FUE - Sapphire Hair - Transplantation
An FUE hair transplant always involves 3 steps. First, the grafts are removed, then the channels are opened and then the grafts are inserted into the recipient area. Despite the new technology, the first step remains the same. The special thing then happens when the channels are opened. Here, a steel blade is no longer used, but a sapphire blade is used. With the steel blade, only U-shaped channels can be created, with the new sapphire technique it is possible to create much more delicate, V-shaped channels, which are much finer and smaller, so that several channels can be created in a small area. The sapphire needles used are available in different sizes; these range from 0.8 - 1.5 mm and are selected by the doctor to match the patient's hair structure exactly. Working with this blade, which is particularly hard and smooth, also makes it possible to create the channels at a very individual angle (40-45°). What are the advantages of the FUE hair transplant with sapphire percutaneous technique? The sapphire technique is particularly distinguished by the fact that the channels for the grafts can be placed to fit the individual. Since these are perfectly matched to the hair, it is almost impossible for the grafts to change their growth direction or even fall out after implantation. The individual advantages of the new FUE sapphire method are explained below. By using the sapphire percutaneous technique for FUE hair transplantation, the growth rate is significantly increased, as the new method is much more delicate and gentle on the hair roots, meaning that significantly fewer hair roots are damaged. Since the special design of the channels means that hardly any grafts can fall out again after the operation, the growth rate is automatically significantly increased.
The higher growth rate naturally also results in higher hair density. In addition, the V-shaped channels mean that the grafts can be placed closer together, which can lead to higher hair density. Medical studies have confirmed that this type of hair transplant can increase hair density by up to 30%. In addition, the hair roots can be implanted more closely in line with the natural direction of hair growth - this visually increases hair density even further. Wound healing plays a crucial role in every operation. On the one hand, rapid wound healing promotes the unhindered growth of the freshly implanted hair and, on the other hand, scarring is prevented. Both inflammation and scarring pose a huge risk to the success of the hair transplant. The sapphire percutaneous technique is therefore an important innovation in hair transplant technology, as the risk of wounds caused by the channels is minimized compared to the conventional method. It has already been scientifically proven that wound healing with this method is approximately 20% faster than with all other hair transplant methods. This not only reduces the pain during wound healing, but also further reduces the risk of infection.
Since infections always promote the formation of scars, minimizing them is always the best way to prevent scars from forming. It has been proven that the new sapphire percutaneous method results in 10% less scarring than with conventional FUE hair transplantation. This is also due to the special nature of the blade; the hard and smooth surface means that the skin is only slightly damaged.
